Rooman's Cybersecurity Foundation Program is a 50-hour, 10-week online course for BSc Computer Science, IT and Electronics students and BCA students. You learn ethical hacking basics, network and web application security, SOC fundamentals, digital forensics and AI security, then complete three documented labs in a capstone and earn the Rooman Campus AI Certificate.

What SOC, penetration testing, GRC, application security and cloud security teams each do.

02Ethical hacking basics8 hrs

The stages of an ethical hack, practised in guided labs with Kali Linux and Metasploit.

  • Rules of engagement: authorisation and scope before any test
  • Reconnaissance and scanning a target network
  • Enumeration and exploitation with Kali Linux and Metasploit
  • Post-exploitation, and writing up what you found

You produce: a documented walkthrough of a guided ethical hacking lab.

03Network security6 hrs

How networks are attacked and defended, from a TCP/IP review to firewalls and VPNs.

  • TCP/IP review: ports, protocols and packets
  • Firewalls and VPNs: how they protect a network
  • Common network attacks and how to defend against them
  • Reading network traffic with Wireshark

You produce: a network traffic analysis in Wireshark.

04Web application security6 hrs

The OWASP Top 10, tested hands-on against deliberately vulnerable apps, and the secure coding that prevents them.

  • Testing deliberately vulnerable apps with Burp Suite
  • Injection, broken access control and other common flaws
  • Secure coding practices that prevent them

You produce: a vulnerability report on a practice web app.

05AI security and OWASP LLM Top 105 hrs

How AI systems are attacked: prompt injection, jailbreaks and the other risks in the OWASP LLM Top 10.

06SOC fundamentals5 hrs

How a security operations centre works: SIEM tools, alert triage and first steps in incident response.

  • Incident response basics: contain, investigate and report

07Digital forensics intro5 hrs

Handle digital evidence correctly, use basic forensic tools and document a case.

08Cybersecurity governance and compliance3 hrs

The standards and laws security teams work to: ISO 27001, SOC 2 and India's DPDP Act.

  • India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act: key duties
  • How GRC teams turn standards into everyday controls

09Resume and interview prep for security roles3 hrs

Plan your certification path and present your lab work the way security hiring managers expect.

Who is this course for?

The course is for BSc Computer Science, IT and Electronics students and BCA students who want a career in cybersecurity. Recent graduates and self-taught ethical hackers are welcome too, as long as they have basic networking and Linux skills.

Which cybersecurity course should a BSc CS or BCA student take?

Start with AI for ALL. Then take the Cybersecurity Foundation Program, which covers ethical hacking basics, network security, web application security, SOC fundamentals, digital forensics and AI security. You need basic networking and Linux skills first.

Is this for college students only?

Mostly, yes. Recent graduates and career-switchers are welcome too.

What do I need before I start?

You need basic networking knowledge, familiarity with Linux and completion of AI for ALL. The Sciences Foundation is not required for this course.

Will I practise hacking?

Yes, in guided labs. You work through reconnaissance, scanning, enumeration and exploitation with Kali Linux and Metasploit, and test deliberately vulnerable web apps. Ethical hacking means testing only systems you have permission to test.

Does it cover AI security?

Yes. One module covers the OWASP LLM Top 10, including prompt injection, jailbreaks and other attack classes specific to AI systems.

How much time does it take?

50 hours over 10 weeks, combining self-paced lessons with one live cohort session each week.

Is it online or classroom?

It is taught online, with self-paced lessons and a weekly live cohort session, so it fits around college or work. Ask a counsellor about classroom batches.

Will I get hands-on with real tools?

Yes. Every tool listed on this page is used hands-on in cohort labs.

What is the capstone?

Complete a guided ethical hacking lab, a digital forensics case and a SOC alert triage scenario, and document each one.

What can I do after this course?

You can add cloud skills with Cloud & DevOps Foundation, or move towards AI engineering with AI Foundation, Tier 1 of Rooman's Build AI track (120 hours).

Is this course AICTE or UGC approved?

It is a skill course from Rooman, not a UGC-approved degree. You receive the Rooman Campus AI Certificate and a completion record.

Will my college recognise this?

Rooman's partner colleges may count it as a skill credit. Check with your college's placement officer.

Does the course include placement support?

Yes: a résumé and LinkedIn workshop, and help with internship matching. It is not one of Rooman's job-guaranteed programmes.

Which certificate will I receive?

The Rooman Campus AI Certificate, with a record of the course you completed.
