Rooman's Cloud & DevOps Foundation is a 50-hour, 10-week online course for BSc Computer Science, IT and Electronics students and BCA students. You learn Linux, AWS and Azure essentials, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD and monitoring, then deploy a web app end to end in a capstone and earn the Rooman Campus AI Certificate.

This Foundation course is built for BSc CS, BCA and Electronics students who want to move into cloud engineering or DevOps without a B.Tech degree. It covers Linux, AWS and Azure essentials, containers, infrastructure as code and CI/CD, and ends with an app you deploy yourself.

Set up servers, storage, access and networking with the everyday AWS services, then map them to Azure.

02Linux fundamentals6 hrs

Use the Linux command line the way ops teams do: files, processes, networking and Bash scripts.

03Cloud basics: AWS8 hrs

The everyday AWS services: EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS and CloudWatch.

  • VPC networking: subnets, routing and security groups
  • RDS managed databases and CloudWatch monitoring

You produce: a web server on EC2 with storage, access and monitoring set up.

04Cloud basics: Azure4 hrs

The Azure equivalents of what you built on AWS, and when to pick Azure over AWS.

You produce: a side-by-side map of the same setup on AWS and Azure.

05Containerisation with Docker6 hrs

Package an app and its dependencies into images and containers.

You produce: a containerised web app with a Dockerfile and a Compose file.

06Kubernetes essentials6 hrs

Deploy and manage containers with Kubernetes on a local Minikube cluster.

07Infrastructure as code with Terraform5 hrs

Write infrastructure as code in Terraform and provision real resources on AWS and Azure.

08CI/CD pipelines5 hrs

Automate build, test and deploy with GitHub Actions.

You produce: a GitHub Actions pipeline that builds, tests and deploys your app.

09Monitoring and incident response basics3 hrs

Watch systems with CloudWatch and Grafana, respond when things break and learn from each incident.

  • Metrics, logs and alarms in CloudWatch
  • Building monitoring dashboards in Grafana
  • On-call basics, incident response and writing postmortems
  • Using ChatGPT for ops to read errors and draft fixes, then checking them

You produce: a monitoring dashboard and a sample postmortem.

10Capstone4 hrs

Deploy a simple web app end to end: containerised, defined as code and shipped through a CI/CD pipeline.

Who is this course for?

The course is for BSc Computer Science, IT and Electronics students and BCA students who want to become cloud or DevOps engineers without a B.Tech degree. Recent graduates and self-taught coders with basic Linux and Python are welcome too.

Which cloud course should a BCA or BSc CS student take?

Start with AI for ALL. Then take Cloud & DevOps Foundation, which covers Linux, AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD with GitHub Actions and monitoring basics. You need basic Linux and Python first.

Is this for college students only?

Mostly, yes. Recent graduates and career-switchers are welcome too.

What do I need before I start?

You need basic Linux and Python skills, and you need to have completed AI for ALL. The Sciences Foundation is not required for this course.

Does it cover both AWS and Azure?

Yes. You learn the everyday AWS services first (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS and CloudWatch), then their Azure equivalents and when to pick Azure over AWS. You also provision real resources on both with Terraform.

Will I use Kubernetes?

Yes. You work with pods, deployments, services, ConfigMaps and secrets on a local Kubernetes cluster with Minikube.

How much time does it take?

50 hours over 10 weeks, combining self-paced lessons with one live cohort session each week.

Is it online or classroom?

It is taught online, with self-paced lessons and a weekly live cohort session, so it fits around college or work. Ask a counsellor about classroom batches.

Will I get hands-on with real tools?

Yes. Every tool listed on this page is used hands-on in cohort labs.

What is the capstone?

Deploy a simple web application end to end: containerised, defined as infrastructure as code and shipped through a CI/CD pipeline. Then document the architecture.

What can I do after this course?

You can add security skills with the Cybersecurity Foundation Program, build AI apps of your own with AI for BCA / BSc CS Students, or move towards AI engineering with AI Foundation, Tier 1 of Rooman's Build AI track (120 hours).

Is this course AICTE or UGC approved?

It is a skill course from Rooman, not a UGC-approved degree. You receive the Rooman Campus AI Certificate and a completion record.

Will my college recognise this?

Rooman's partner colleges may count it as a skill credit. Check with your college's placement officer.

Does the course include placement support?

Yes: a résumé and LinkedIn workshop, and help with internship matching. It is not one of Rooman's job-guaranteed programmes.

Which certificate will I receive?

The Rooman Campus AI Certificate, with a record of the course you completed.
