Rooman's AI for NGO & Social Sector Professionals is a 25-hour, 5-week online course for Sociology, Social Work and Development Studies students heading for NGO and development-sector careers. You learn AI for fundraising, programme design, impact measurement, storytelling and operations, with ethics at the centre, then design three improvements for an NGO in a capstone and earn the Rooman Campus AI Certificate.

Who is this course for?

What do I need before I start?
You need to have completed AI for ALL, Rooman's 20-hour foundation course. No other course is required. You do not need to work at an NGO already: for the capstone you can choose a real or a hypothetical one.
Do I need to work at an NGO already?
No. For the capstone you can pick a real NGO or a hypothetical one. Students who already volunteer or work with an NGO are welcome too.
How does the course handle beneficiary data?
Module 6 covers consent, privacy and dignity when working with vulnerable populations, and treats them as non-negotiable.
Is this about AI hype?
No. Module 1 separates what is real from what is hype, so you know where AI helps NGOs and where it does not.
How much time does it take?
25 hours over 5 weeks, combining self-paced lessons with one live cohort session each week.
Is it online or classroom?
It is taught online, with self-paced lessons and a weekly live cohort session, so it fits around college or work. Ask a counsellor about classroom batches.
Will I get hands-on with real tools?
Yes. Every tool listed on this page is used hands-on in cohort labs.
