India's 100 Smart Cities Mission asks a city to run as one system: cameras, sensors, civic operations and the people watching them, joined up rather than bought separately. Doing that in a Tier-2 city means integrating what is already there, not starting from a clean sheet.
It is also public procurement, which carries its own bar for certification, audit and long-term maintenance.
The solution
What Rooman did.
Rooman is the systems integrator for four of the hundred, Shimoga among them, and delivers all four service pillars itself:
- Video management and an Integrated Command & Control Centre — CCTV, video walls, access control, VMS and video analytics.
- IoT for civic operations — solid waste management, fleet management, asset management, environmental sensors.
- Cyber security for critical infrastructure.
- A multi-year AMC after handover, not a hand-off at go-live.
